Overview of Mount Moriah |
|
Possibly where Abraham was willing to sacrifice Issac |
This is considered as a sacred place to Christians, Jews and Muslims. According to the bible, this was the place whereby God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son Issac and whereby after the angel stopped it, he blessed Abraham and his descendants due to his obedience. This is also the place that King David bought and built and alter and which Solomon built a temple after that.

Possibly very close to where
the Holy of Holies stood |
That temple was so glorious and it was said that it was the holiest place on earth among the Jews as they believe that God’s presence is manifested more than in any other place.Only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies whereby he is said to be able to communicate to God directly inside. Today, it is in the control of the Palestinians and hence it is under the Muslims in Israel so there is no Jewish memorial built inside to honor Solomon Temple.

Mosque built to honor Prophet Muhammad |
This place is also where Muslims believe, that the son that Abraham was about to sacrifice was Ismael and not Issac and also where Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven with the angel Gabriel. There are 3 mosques built over there, with the third being built very recently. The first two mosques is built as a memorial to Prophet Muhammad miraculous journey as one of it, is where he is said to have reached from Macca and tied his horse at before he walked in the place called the Gate of the Prophet and walked up the sacred rock which is in the center of Solomon Temple and the other is the one with the gold top where it is believed that he had ascended to the heavens with the angel Gabriel.

Wailing Wall (1) |
An interesting thing about this place is the Wailing Wall. Many Jews come here often to pray for the temple to be rebuilt and to write down their wishes in small pieces of paper and slot it in between the walls. Based on the picture beside, there are 2 types of Jews. The one with the black round hat are said to be the most religious Jews as compared to the others with the small round cap. In history, many Jews will travel long distances to pray at the wall, as it was considered as the Holiest place on earth after the temple had been destroyed and they will pour out their hearts to God and hence it got its name as The Wailing Wall.
